Fr. Galant & Scout Master Las Decorated by Deputy Speaker M. Gosiewska

At the recent meeting with the Polish community of Seattle, the Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm, Małgorzata Gosiewska, decorated the following people with Polish orders and medals. Father Andrzej Galant of the Polish Parish in Seattle received a Knight’s Cross of the Order Polonia Restituta, the second highest Polish civilian order, and also a Cross of Freedom and Solidarity, for his involvement in the fight for Polish freedom and democracy under the communist regime

Agnieszka Jeżyk Becomes the UW Professor of Polish Studies

Dr. Agnieszka Jeżyk, Professor of Polish Studies at the University of Toronto, has recently obtained the position of the Maria Kott Endowed Professor of Polish Studies at the UW Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures. She will start in Seattle in the 2023/24 academic year. She has won the position in a competition with about 30 candidates and was among four finalist who had public lectures and extensive interviews at the Slavic Department in February

City Mayors from Poland at the Polish Cultural Center

Mayors from several smaller cities in Poland will be at an open meeting at the Polish Cultural Center in Seattle. This is a unique opportunity to spend time with leaders who have traveled to our area and perhaps meet people from your hometown back in Poland. The event will feature a buffet style meal, short presentation, and opportunities to mingle with the guests. Wendy Rader-Konofalski Painting Exhibit in Redmond

Wendy Rader-Konofalski is a local artist with another exhibition, this time at Victor’s Celtic Coffee in Redmond. The opening reception for her show “The Magic of the Unexpected” is on April 2, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm. The exhibition presents several of her large and medium abstract acrylic paintings and abstract mixed media collages on paper. Luke Fitzpatrick Plays Pączkowski at Wayward Music Series

Wayward Music Series presents the concert “Luke Fitzpatrick: The Light Strikes” with violinist Luke Fitzpatrick. The program with solo works fusing violin, electronics and voice includes newly commissioned works by composers Kerrith Livengood, Sam Krahn, Marcin Pączkowski and Luke Fitzpatrick. Polish Spring Bazaar

This is the annual one-day Polish Bazaar that falls on the Saturday before Palm Sunday. It’s on April Fool’s Day this year, but it’s for real! The bazaar features the usual: booths with amber and jewelry, arts and crafts, Polish crystals and Boleslawiec pottery as well as booths by local Polish organizations. Polonez Parcel Service Out of Business

For many years, Polonez Parcel Service has had a local outlet in Fife sending packages to Poland at low prices; it has been quite popular within our community. Apparently, the company went out of business abruptly about two weeks ago with no warning to their agents.
