After a very successful visit to Seattle last year, Bandonegro comes again with two different events at the Polish Cultural Center. On Friday, 10/25/24 you can tango the night away, while on Saturday, 10/26/24 you can listen to their concert! At once both inimitable and iconic, Bandonegro are known the world over for their traditional Argentine tango and tango nuevo, as well as their own innovative stylings that weave in jazz and classical music.
They burst onto the tango scene by winning the international competition “PIF Castelfidardo” in Italy at the age of eighteen. Since that astonishing debut, they have recorded five successful albums, toured at festivals and salons all over Poland and the rest of Europe, and were invited to play for five weeks at clubs in Buenos Aires, Argentina: the birthplace of tango. They have collaborated with some of the most famous tango dancers alive, including World Champions Clarisa Aragone and Jonathan Saavedra, and performed at tango’s biggest event, the Buenos Aires Tango World Cup Finals. They have composed selections for the German Association of Public Broadcasting Corporations ARD and Henryk Wieniawski Musical Society of Poznań. Wielkopolska Province lauded their work with a Medal of Young Art while the Argentine embassy in Poland bestowed an honorary patronage upon them.
All to say, this extraordinarily talented four-man ensemble will set your feet to dancing with their irresistible music. Come see Michał Główka on the Bandoneon/Accordion, Jakub Czechowicz on the Violin, Marek Dolecki on the Piano, and Marcin Antkowiak on the Double Bass.
“Bandonegro isn’t just a band, it’s a phenomenon on the Polish music scene”, Adam Baruch (JazzForum, PolishJazz)
