The UW Polish Studies Endowment Committee presents the movie “Radioactive“, directed by Marjane Satrapi based on the graphic novel “Radioactive: Marie & Pierre Curie: A Tale of Love and Fallout” by Laurel Redniss.
This movie screening is part of a cycle of events about Marie Curie that includes an exhibition “The Lady of the Radium” and a lecture “Madame Curie – Destiny Fulfilled” by Hanna Karczewski, both at the University of Washington in Seattle.
The 2019 film is a biopic of the double Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie (née Maria Skłodowska) and features a brilliant performance by Rosamund Pike as Madame Curie with Sam Riley as Pierre Curie. The film highlights all the key moments of her life including discovery of polonium and radium, tragic death of her husband, and a love affair with the mathematician Paul Langevin.
Q&A with Hanna Karczewski, the great-granddaughter of Marie Curie’s sister Helena Skłodowska, led by Anna Kułakowska.
This event is free of charge.
