The Polish Cultural Center celebrates this year’s Fat Thursday with a special dinner and a sale of Polish pastries of the season: pączki (Polish doughnuts) and faworki (fa-vor-kee) a.k.a chrust (hroost), traditionally prepared for Fat Thursday and later for Easter. Also on sale: makowiec (poppy seed cake), oponki (donuts), and rurki z kremem (wafer rolls with whipped cream).
The dinner menu includes: pickle soup, Ceasar salad, pierogi, cabbage rolls, Polish cutlet in mushroom sauce and bigos (hunter stew). Also on sale: frozen pierogi.
Fat Thursday is the Polish Mardi Gras; it falls on Thursday before the Mardi Gras Tuesday.
This event is organized by Jola Szymanski and Kamila Kanczugowski and the Polish Women’s Club as a fundraiser for the Polish Home A/C system .
