The UW Dept. of Digital Arts and Experimental Media (DXARTS) presents its Winter Concert: Movement Actuation, featuring Marcin Pączkowski and other artists. The program includes recent work and world premieres exploring gesture made sound, spaces made of movement, and algorithms of artistic expression.
Pączkowski, a research associate at DXARTS, is a composer, conductor, digital artist and performer exploring ambisonics, computer music, electro-acoustic music and live electronics. He created an ingenious interactive electronic system converting gestures to sounds and performs fascinating music compositions played using gestures.
The program of the evening includes
- Here comes a candle to light you to bed (2022)* by Marcin Pączkowski, performed by Pieczatkowski, interactive electronics composition
- Ventriloquist Ontology (2021) by Afroditi Psarra, performed by Carolina Marín, movement
- The Woods Enclose (2021)* – Breana Tavaglione, performed by Tavaglione, sound diffusion
- if I keep recalling it, something had to change… (2022)* by Wei Yang, performed by Murphy Janssen, drums

The concert is at the Meany Hall Katharyn Alvord Gerlich Theater and is free and open to the public.
