The Polish public movie producer, Wytwórnia Filmów Dokumentalnych i Fabularnych (WFDiF), created a movie streaming platform “35mm.online” presenting Polish cinematography. About 4000 fully digitalized and restored movies are now available for viewing. The platform is available on the web, as a mobile application and as a smart TV application. The website works in Polish and English. For now, watching the movies is free of charge; it requires creating an account and logging in. The website appears to be in beta, as many features are missing, but the search works in a similar way like on Netflix or Amazon Prime so you can find the movies you want to watch.
All digitalized movies come in HD quality and with Polish and English subtitles, movie descriptions and all the detailed info you can expect – from director and full cast to cinematographers and music. Currently, the search engine and suggestions work with icons, but you can follow any artist by simply clicking on the cast etc. There is a lot of older movies starting from 1950s and going up to about 2010. Many famous movies are represented but not all, so your mileage might vary… and yes, Kieslowski’s Three Colors trilogy is available, so you can watch it at home on 35mm.online or at a real cinema as it is playing at SIFF Cinema Egyptian from July 22, 2022.
